Yarn Hoarding for Winter...

I feel like a squirrel with it's nuts as I currently try to find space for all the yarn orders that I'm enjoying the deliveries of (pics below), and yes I am stocking up for Winter. With Christmas post delays, Covid postal impact and most critical, Brexit, looming- this year I have been trying to store away as much yarn as possible, mainly for designing use, as my stash of 'personal projects' yarn is quite healthy already. Brexit means the dreaded duty and admin fees will be applied to any deliveries from the UK, which is where I mainly order from anyway, so for me, as my yarn budget does unfortunately have it's limits, may have to either become a thing of the past for me or at least a very limited prospect...So I have been trying to order from any Indie dyers in the UK that I'd had on my Wishlist before it's too late, so most of my orders this yarn shopping and some from last year, have had that at the heart of it. Just one more order left I think, and that will be for 6 skeins of Cashmere Sock from The Wool Barn Yarns...
 2021 will see me explore Yarn dyers in the EU to see what lovely lengths of yarn art I can find to satisfy my yarny habit...

I love how you can draw with yarn!

  I am totally still obsessed with my latest release, the Deco Decadence Shawl ! What I loved about the process of creating this shawl was the absolute engagement in the images and the yarn and the shapes. They started as simply, images, symbols, motifs, and the lines and holes that allow them to take form. And you can take some needles and some yarn and you can work your fingers/needles/yarn and really develop those lines and holes from something rather flat and limited in your mind to some alive and vital. It's a real and tangible way of drawing that brings such a sense of self achievement- that you can feel time and time again, everytime you see the image move as you do, the sway of the folds making 'waves' of fluidity and flow out of those lines, and the light bringing shards of life through the holes to illuminate their picture... This shawl is a comforting, mediative & restful combination of squishy garter stitch,  bright stripes in varying widths, and graphic patterning.  Just pick some yarns in shades you love and enjoy the squishy stripy yarny journey until you end up with a large, squishy, bold, wraparound of a shawl. This shawl is started with just 3 stitches and uses regular increasing at the end of each (RS) row to form a large asymmetrical triangle to be bound off once you have reached a certain number of stitches.
