I love how you can draw with yarn!

I am totally still obsessed with my latest release, the Deco Decadence Shawl ! What I loved about the process of creating this shawl was the absolute engagement in the images and the yarn and the shapes. They started as simply, images, symbols, motifs, and the lines and holes that allow them to take form. And you can take some needles and some yarn and you can work your fingers/needles/yarn and really develop those lines and holes from something rather flat and limited in your mind to some alive and vital. It's a real and tangible way of drawing that brings such a sense of self achievement- that you can feel time and time again, everytime you see the image move as you do, the sway of the folds making 'waves' of fluidity and flow out of those lines, and the light bringing shards of life through the holes to illuminate their picture... I went with shades that had depth, richness and an element almost of a metallic flowing river to them but still a subtlety to them, shades...

My Deco Decadence Shawl has been released!

Image
My latest release ' Deco Decadence Shawl ' , is now available in my Ravelry store ' Bex Knitty Design ', on  Payhip  and shortly also on LoveCrafts.com! Deco Decadence Shawl    Six canvas like panels, featuring abundant lace and twists to depict Art Deco motifs of line and symmetry in rich decadence! This Hexagonally shaped cape-styel shawl is made up of six panels increasing steadily in width by way of yarnovers to form a body enfolding piece with waterfall-like drape. I used 6 different colourways to create the transitioning palette for the sample of this shawl and  noted at which points I made my changes in the   Notes  section but please feel free to bring an element of 'rule breaking' to your palette which provides a  perfect  opportunity in this piece for a nod to a time in fashion  & design of breaking established norms in freedom  &  embracing expression - you can go with as many or as little  sh...

My Gift Of Honey Mitts have been released!

My latest release 'Gift Of Honey Mitts' , are now available in my Ravelry store ' Bex Knitty Design ', on Payhip and shortly also on LoveCrafts.com!    T his is an extremely quick and easy way to achieve either a really striking pair of 2 colour mitts or  a subtle but noticeable of single colour version, and you will only ever be knitting with one colour at  a time and slipping stitches, along with the odd purl row. The pattern gives instructions for 2 sizes  and whilst I chose to make a longer ‘wrist warmer’ length version for my sample you can also  make a shorter version by skipping some of the pattern repeat as indicated in the instructions. As usual with my releases, it will be FREE for the first day or so, which means until end of day (CET - Central European Time) on the 23rd September 2023 and then with 25% off until end of day (CET - Central European Time) on the 29th September 2023 to celebrate the launch! Ravelry: No coupon code needed, price wil...

New Knitting Adventures...

Image
New Knitting Adventures... For me, at least, the bulk of knitting releases I have always launched during the later half of the year and so now that 'busy' time is soon upon me... I am all ready to go actually, with most test knitting wrapped up, so it should be a fairly smooth ride, with 6 new patterns to release over Sep/Oct/Nov, the first of which will be The Woven Shawl on the 30th September 😀 I love the texture of this shawl, it has a very traditional homely woven look - hence the name lol - created by utilising both sides of Linen stitch, as well as squishy Garter stitch which for me is the quiet hero of knitting. In other news... All of this preprepatory organization has paid off as planned, in that it has left me free to work on my most scariest and probably due to be longest project so far - the sweater I am currently knitting up  At first it was alot of throwing myself into the maths side which totally daunts me and even more of knitting 2 rounds just to rip...
