I wish there were just the fun parts... (Part 2)

I wish there were just the fun parts...
(Part 2)

Last Sunday we spent some of the day on a rather large photo shoot in preparation for some designs that will be released throughout February and March, you can see some of these shots in the picture above.
It's once again, not my most loved part of the process 😅but whilst it's not strictly necessary, I think, what I call 'Flat' pictures, of an item can be perfectly adequate and just as nice and if not more aesthetically pleasing but I like to show the item being 'worn' if possible.
It's just whilst in permanent state of hibernation for 2020 they are simply something I really haven't fancied doing! 😄 So the need for doing this built up for quite a few of these future design releases, as well as some past ones that I managed to sneak some shots in for. So, I'm pleased I at least got this done, better late than never!
Then comes the editing, choosing the pics that best show the item and the particular angles needed and placing them into the pattern PDF's. That I am still working on, as I have two releases this week that had to take priority time-wise, more on that below!

When Friday is a Release Day!...

And we have a double release, as we have the 'Gift of Honey Cowl' & the matching 'Gift of Honey Hat' going live available in my Ravelry store 'Bex Knitty Design' and shortly also on LoveCrafts.com!
This is a warm snuggly DK weight set, comprising of a worked in a tube moebius style cowl with easy slipped stitch patterning and a matching hat (which can also be made in one colour as pictured)

They will eventually after the release week be available with a discount when purchasing the pair (even at separate times) for those that like to match, whilst releasing them as separate patterns for those that don't!
As usual with my releases, each of them will be FREE for the first day or so, which means until end of day (CET) on the 6th February 2021 and then with 25% off until end of day (CET) on the 12th February 2021 to celebrate the launch!
Ravelry: No coupon code needed, price will change on checkout but if you intend to download them both pattern, you must download them separately as the offers will not work together

Design in Progress...

I don't have much more to show for it at the moment but I am still working a few rows here and there, in amongst the other more priority commitments I had to get to, on the DK weight triangular shawl I am working on.
Here's a picture showing my progress so far, and I must say I am really enjoying every row of this project and hope to now dedicate much more time to it.

Tests in Progress...

This weeks blog post I felt should focus solely on the tests that have been running for the 'Gift of Honey' Cowl and Hat as they have now all but finished in view of the release of the patterns.
I thought I would share some of them here in more detail
:

Vrazz (On Ravelry)
Made this stunning Cowl & Hat in Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 120 in shades of white, purple and grey & Karabella Yarns Yarns Aurora 8 in cranberry
I think this is so eye-catching and polished!

Edieglass (On Ravelry)
Also chose to make a beautiful set, to give to a friend,  usinga lovely mixture of Knit Picks Brava worsted in black, Lion Brand Pound of Love Skein in cream, and Caron Simply Soft in Autumn Red, along with a grey from stash.
All together they have made up a very classic and sophisticated set!

CairAndros (On Ravelry)
opted to make both pieces, but not as a colour matching set which I think just more chance to try out lovely yarns! For the hat she settled on a very modern combination of shades, from Garnstudio DROPS Karisma, 21 Grau, 16 Dark Grey, 30 Light Denim Blue & 79 Punch Citron. For the hat she went with Deramores Studio Merino DK in Magnolia & Petal Pink, for a really pretty pairing. Both modern and sweet, two different looks, but both so beautiful!

Theresa12912 (On Instagram)
Made a Cowl, using Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply in Grey, Deep Rose, Blueberry and Lipstick Rose, creating a truly gorgeous berry themed version!

RKemily89 (On Ravelry)
made this hat with GRown Baby merino Silk DK  in white & DSublim Yarns Elodie in 602 Essence. With these 'traditional' colours, I just see cozy cuddle up in woolly goodness when I look at this!

M3mily (On Ravelry)
decided to make 2 hats, both the 2 colour and the 1 colour versions. The 1st hat, the 2 colour one, was made up in Caron Simply Soft in black along with a blue shade from stash whilst Wonderland Yarns & Frabjous Fibers Mary Ann was solely used for the 2nd hat, in the colourway 164 Lavender Macaron. Once again 2 items with very different looks, but these are both so versatile and wearable, I really couldn't choose between them!

Moogle (On Ravelry)
chose to make a 1 colour version and what a stunning colourway she chose to make it in! Lion Brand Flikka, in Wading Pool . This is so hypnotic to look at, and it's both attention grabbing but somehow still very wearable and neutral.

Maisie3012 (On Instagram)
made this 2 colour hat using Stylecraft Bellissima DK in red and grey for a very vibrant but still classic piece!

Hopefully this lovely selection will give you some ideas and inspiration for what yarns and colourways you might choose to make some Gift of Honey finished objects for yourself and please take advantage of downloading these patterns whilst they're up for FREE!

Until next time! …
