A Hat for releasing, a shawl for testing, and wraps for designing...
This week has been a mixture of design work tasks. First few days I usually ease into it slow and relaxed, with the part I love most - The actual knitting! So I spent some time working on the soft and floaty wrap using Emeteri Silky Singles, to see how that pattern is panning out, and then it was onto preparing my next design to go out on testing, the 'Sanctuary Shawl', (slightly altered name from before, but an even more prettier shawl, now that it's been blocked!)
So it is now out with some of my wonderful test knitting team members and I am hoping they enjoy knitting this ever changing journey of a shawl as much as I did! Perhaps we will start to see some very early beginnings of progress which can be included in next week's test section 😊
Next on the agenda was working through all the preparation involved in a release, for my next design launch, and a bit more on that below...
When Friday is a Release Day!...
Today sees the release of the 'Ancient Spirals Hat', available in my Ravelry store 'Bex Knitty Design' and shortly also on LoveCrafts.com!
This is a soft, cosy hat with a relaxed fit, featuring both textured and lacework patterning to keep you engaged whilst knitting it along with squishy garter rows and a garter stitch brim, to create an interesting finished piece.
I knit up my sample in a combination of the following two bases, one slightly plumper than the other, from the 'The Wool Barn';
'Cashmere Sock' Fingering weight yarn (the two tonals), 100g, 382 yards / 349 metres. This is 80% Wool - Merino, 10% Goat - Cashmere, & 10% manufactured fibres - Nylon / Polyamide.
& 'Twist Sock', Fingering weight yarn (the speckled), 100g, 400 yards / 366 metres. this is 80% Wool - Merino & 20% manufactured fibres - Nylon / Polyamide.
But any wool based Fingering weight yarn with good stitch definition should work fine.

Design in Progress...
The rectangle shaped Fingering weight wrap I am making in Emeteri Yarns, Silky Singles, in Periwinkle Sparkle is coming along nicely, as I am starting to add the first lace pattern following the textured edge, of which will combine to hopefully make what should be a very lightweight, lacy, loose gauge drape of a wrap!
I may also be winding some cakes for another wrap I have in mind which also might be digging into my design time as I may need to juggle the spring/summer testing schedule again! Possibly more on that next week...
Test in Progress...
This weeks blog post Tests section I felt should focus solely on the test that has been running for the 'Ancient Spirals Hat' as they now all have their finished hats!:
CairAndros (On Ravelry),
made this really sweet and well coordinating piece, using 'Dream Color' in 726 Victoria, and 'Lang Yarns Jawoll Superwash 75/25 in shades 190 Violett & 184 Azalee, making for a really well knit polished looking finished hat

M3mily (On Ravelry),
chose to make this hat in a single colour, which I think is great as it shows off the options for a knitter. This classy and striking finished hat was knit up in 'Mrs Crosby Satchel' yarn in the colorway Sunset Regatta and is absolutely gorgeous!
Moogle (On Ravelry)
A seasoned tester for me from previous patterns, decided to grab some leftovers and turn them into this lovely finished hat! I love to see leftovers being used, especially for small quantity of yarn items such as multi coloured hats. All yarns used in previous test projects for me, this hat was knit, a up with 'Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport Solid' in La Regina, 'Pumpkins and Wools Sock Kits' in New England Harvest, and some white yarn, that will have to remain nameless, a tagless leftover, from you guessed it! A previous Bex Knitty Test that she created a beauty for!

Used her own hand dyed yarn, (Merino sock yarn base), to truly 'create' her finished Ancient Spirals Hat, and why not when you can dye yarn this well, a naturistic palette of golden greens and yellows lends well to the simple stitch patterns and has make for a lovely looking hat!
Hopefully this lovely selection will give you some ideas and inspiration for what yarns and colourways you might choose to make some Ancient Spirals Hat finished objects for yourself and please take advantage of downloading the patterns whilst it's up for FREE!
Until next time! …
