Lace or texture, or both...

Lace or texture, or both...

This week I have been enjoying the planning of my next design WIP, which is detailed below, which should entail some very pretty lace charts, but I have opted to add some textured knit & purl patterning as sometimes it's hard to choose between the two out of what kind of knitting stitches I enjoy working the most, and why not go for both if that mean's double the enjoyment! I love the look of cables but I don't enjoy actually knitting them so much, whereas I love knitting lace and for some reason knitting lace patterns always seem to whizz by on the needles for me! I love to combine lace sections coming from cables, just as I did with my 'Braided Lace Shawl' and now with my matching 'Braided Lace Hat' which has been released today, so more about that below!

When Friday is a Release Day!...

Today's blog post sees the release of the 'Braided Lace Hat' which is the complimentary hat pattern to the 'Braided Lace Shawl', made with the leftover yarn from that shawl by 'Gardeners Cottage Yarns' (@ gardenerscottageyarn), that I simply couldn't leave hanging around waiting for a purpose when I could see this hat in my designer minds eye. It's available from my Ravelry store 'Bex Knitty Design' and shortly also on LoveCrafts.com!

It's a light fingering weight beanie style hat, with a twisted rib style brim, using braid style cables of alternating lengths and some incorporates delicate lace portions. The sample was made in the two yarn colourways used for the matching shawl but it can of course be made using just one colour, as shown by one of my testers in the tests section below.

As usual with my releases, it will be FREE for the first day or so, which means until end of day (CET) on the 13th February 2021 and then with 25% off until end of day (CET) on the 19th February 2021 to celebrate the launch!
Ravelry: No coupon code needed, price will change on checkout but if you intend to download it along with any other of my patterns, you must download them separately as the offers will not work together
After the 20th March it will be available with a discount when purchasing both the hat and the shawl (even at separate times).

Designs in Progress...

I have been in the process of binding off one pattern and casting on the next...

The 'Sanctuary Space Shaw' has now been completed, and is laying out blocking to dry (for however long that may take!) and once that phase is finishd, then will begin the picture taking and prepping of the pattern to send out to testers. It's going to be a long test period for this one as it won't be released until the Autumn so no need for the testers to use every testknitting moment on it through the hotter months when many knitters on not too keen on working with the heavier weights yarns so I thought this way we could just work at a leisurely pace on the test for this one knowing is has a very very long deadline!

So that means right now I have been happily working away on my wrap using 'Emiteri Yarns Silky Singles in Periwinkle Sparkle.

It's going to be a delicate fingering weight warmer weather wrap full of lace and soft texture patterns and I can't wait to see it evolve more and share it with you as it does!

Tests in Progress...

This weeks blog post test section I felt should focus solely on the tests that have been running for the 'Braided Lace Hat'  as the test has now finished in view of the release of the pattern.
I thought I would share some of them here in more detail
:

Vrazz (On Ravelry), Braided Lace Hat
Ma
de this lovely hat using 'Expression Fibre Arts Superwash Merino Silk Pearlescent Fingering' in the Speckled colourway and 'Dragonfly Fibres Superwash Merino Fingering' in Pixie, which were leftovers from the 'Braided Lace Shawl' she also test knitted. I think this has such a romantic prettiness, I love looking at it.

Theresa12912 (On Instagram), Braided Lace Hat
created this fun, poppy, deliciously cute, hat using Patons baby 4ply for the blue ribbed brim and the speckled Luna colourway by 'Louie & Lola Yarns' (@louielolayarns), absolutely gorgeous!

Strikkebien (On Ravelry), Braided Lace Hat
chose to make a slouchy version of the hat, by repeating some rounds as detailed in the instructions, and to also use some of her own beautiful hand dyed yarn for the project. I love the rich colour combo and overall cosy warming effect they bring to it, just so snuggly!

Moogle (On Ravelry), Braided Lace Hat
opted to make a 1 colour version and chose this gorgeous New England Harvest colourway from 'Pumpkins and Wools Merino Nylon Light Fingering'. This is just so warm and striking, golden cosiness at its best!

Hopefully this lovely selection will give you some ideas and inspiration for what yarns and colourways you might choose to make some Braided Lace Hats for yourself and please take advantage of downloading the pattern whilst it's up for FREE!

Until next time! …
