Back on the Blog...
So it's been another long hot Summer and on the knitting front that has not stopped me knitting away on all things woolly!
Apart from personal projects and gift knitting (Christmas knitting of jumpers and socks in July! 😅) I managed over the last year to crank out 3 shawls, 2 cowls and a couple of hats that are all due for release late 2022/early 2023 - 3 of which made it into last years Christmas gift knits pile and another will dive into the steadily rising pile for Christmas 2023!
I love knitting up a stockpile of designs - as you know- whilst my wonderful stitchsaving test knitters work through prior designs, but that does always mean I will get to the point where I have to put my needles down in order to write up all the patterns so that they can become my next test knitters projects in time for them to finish them before release due dates come around...Not the bit I love 😒 but can't be avoided!
So mid-late August was all about that for me, writing up, sending out, updating who is testing what and what needs to go out when by...until I got brain ache from lines and lines of what, let's face it, is it's own kind of code basically, on various different patterns.
But, at least, that part is out of the way now and at least I can relax for a while, catch up on my personal/gift knitting projects- I have become addicted to sock knitting, which I thought would never happen! and just stick to my corrections schedule - Yes, with 7 current tests out there, I felt a little organisation was needed, and so I have cut my 5 day working week into chunks of Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday for Shawl corrections, Thursday for Cowl correction & Friday for Hat corrections. I personally love being organised and this is really helping me both to focus in on and complete particular jobs rather then bounce over all of them and perhaps miss something, knowing the other jobs not for today will have their day so it's fine to leave them for now, and to just to feel more motivated to commit to each task that's required cos I know it's all under control this way. And it's got to be good that my testers know when to expect their given projects corrections.
And who knows, after any daily corrections, admin, tester communications etc I might even get time to take my first proper step on the road to my first sweater design!!! 😲 Yes, that's right, sweater designs have been filling the design spaces of my mind, four or five actually, and whilst they may be pipe dream and may never actually happen, I'm allowing it that space for now. Even if I do get my act together and cast on the swatch for the first one at least and try to wrap my head around the grading math involved (the scary part for me), it will take me a very very very long time before a proper pattern emerges, as I want to take my time and make sure it's the best it can be...and I may decide ultimately sweater design isn't for me, as I do love the low pressure of designing accessories, so - We shall see 👀
In other news...
So my 'Buy Now, Knit Later - 50% off sale' has less than a week to run as we head into the later part of the year
