On Ravelry's " Hot Right Now" list !!!

Image
Yesterday I released my first ever 3 patterns on Ravelry and I received such lovely feedback and interest in all of them, as a newbie at designing and frankly terrified of taking the step of releasing my little tentative babies into our Ravelry world, this was extremely heartwarming and encouraging. Today, I am following yesterday up with waking this morning to find all 3 patterns were now numbers 1, 5 and 7, at that time, on Ravelrys 'hot right now list' !!! Thanks to so much wonderful support, and utterly made my day! It's probably changed by now but I'm holding onto those place numbers in my knitty little heart for the rest of the day at least 😍😍😍 not because them being popular is important in itself but it's so much more than I expected for them, so I am just happy that people liked them, and it encourages me to push on with the next few I'm working on!  😍😍 😍😍 😍😍 😍😍 😍😍 😍😍 😍😍

My new pattern The Fairfield Harvest Shawl has been released!

The Moorlands Romance Shawl  by Bex knitty design Moorlands Romance Shawl This shawl is a crescent shaped shawl in shades of heather and moss to create a very natural, earthy but still feminine canvas of a shawl. It builds first with an easy striped garter panel to get you going on the shape, forming the far off distance in this picture that will start to form, then into the texture of the double moss stitch to represent the colours and textures of the moorland landscape and into the so-close-you-can-almost pick the heather lace panel and the traditional woven look stitch work of a basket patterned section to gather it all in. Each colour has its moment to blend with another shade but also chance to stand alone to give a balanced colour rich result. The shape is formed initially by a swift increase from 5 stitches by way of KFB increases and then at each end of the shawl.I have worked this construction for this shawl as an alternative to working a garter tab start. With...

The Fairfield Harvest Shawl  by Bex knitty design This shawl is an asymmetrical large cozy triangular shaped shawl, working from side to side, with a cast on of 3 stitches increasing slowly to its point and then decreasing down again to shape the shawl.  It is worked in 3 colours, which move smoothly into each other by way of connecting slipped stitch panels, with stitches picked up all along the shaped edge of the shawl to finish with an applied linen stitch border which brings all the colours together. It’s a very rustic natural un-fussed with style of shawl with a natural waviness due to very minimal blocking, and which also happens due to the construction of the applied linen stitch border being added by picking up stitches along the edges of the garter and slipped stitch panels. It therefore relies on the construction rather than blocking to form all shapes.  I chose to work the sample in an Alpaca silk blend that has a good halo as I wanted it to be of a soft rus...

My new pattern The Surrey Avenue Shawl has been released!

The Surrey Avenue Shawl by Bex knitty design This shawl is a large Triangular shaped Shawl, knit up in Aran Weight traditional Crunchy Shetland wool to maximize it’s homely cozy comforting appeal. The construction is worked along the clear and simple lines of yarn over increases at the center spine of the shawl and at either ends to grow the piece evenly and swiftly , whilst switching between stripes of Garter and panels of purl textured stockinette, at regular timed intervals. This piece knits up so fast whilst you move through the clearly laid out path of mindless comforting Garter and then building interest as you create the alternating textured patterning and then move smoothly back into a Garter break and so on. It is worked in 3 colours, a strong voice of a speckle to act as separating stripes to the accompanying 2 solid colours that are both light and warm to work as a canvas for the sections of  classic alternating diamond style texture which add interest to...
