Antish Shawl has been released!

Image
Today sees the release of the ' Antish Shawl ', available in my Ravelry store ' Bex Knitty Design ' and shortly also on LoveCrafts.com! This is a very simple crescent shaped shawl with lots of relaxing garter and stockinette stripes, alternating in both colour and texture to keep the knitter’s interest to see how the different combos come out. There are also panels of lace and twisted stitches to make it a striking yet delicate soft pretty piece. I used a slightly plumper than usual fingering weight yarn in a wool / cashmere blend for that soft floofy drape in delicate neutral shades for a gentle palette, but any soft wool based / blend yarn of your choice should work fine. You can play with yarn weights to make it even more delicate or cosy, just remember different gauge can change the required yarn amounts and finished measurements. As usual with my releases, it will be FREE for the first day or so, which means until end of day (CEST) on the 28th October ...

Whimsical Lane Wrap has been released!

Image
When Friday is a Release Day!... Today sees the release of the ' Whimsical Lane Wrap ', available in my Ravelry store ' Bex Knitty Design ' and shortly also on LoveCrafts.com! This is a light and floaty fingering weights rectangular wrap, very versatile to wear, is knit from corner to corner, meaning no large cast on or kind off number of stitches. The stitch count stabilizes and remains the same for a large part of the wrap which allows for modification in length if desired. The design is worked on a balanced plan to provide equal amounts of engagement of comfort, featuring natured themed easy to work lace sections separated by cosy Garter stripes sequences interspersed with slipped stitches patterned rows to add interest. I would recommend two tonal/solid shades for the garter stripe combination and whatever yarn you love for the lace sections. Whether delicately draped over the shoulders to provide some light cover or layered around the neck cosy scarf style, forma...

Blog on Summer Hiatus...

Image
Blog on Summer Hiatus... Just a quick post to announce that this blog will be going on a hiatus for the Summer, with perhaps just the odd post here and there. This will streamline how much 'laptop time and date abiding' I will need to commit myself to during the warm weather family time of the beautiful Summer months ahead ...

Happily getting ahead of my schedule...

Happily getting ahead of my schedule... So I have spent a some of the last two weeks working on finishing my 'Waterways Wrap' and I am pleased to say I did just that, and it will hit the blocking mats this weekend. Whilst working on that wrap, it was just one of those projects where it felt like one distraction after another kept occuring, and whilst it isn't hard techincally, as I detail below, I am a little concerned i sometimes lost track of the numbers part of writing a pattern so I am really pleased I am ahead of my plans for the timeline for this wrap by just under a few weeks, so that I can afford to take some extra time going through the pattern to see everything adds up and such.  We've also been busy over on the testing front with the two current tests running at the moment, details below, and my mind is now of course on the next design 😀  Designs in Progress... Freshly off my design needles we have my 'Waterways Wrap'. It's a lacework and tex...

My Summer release/design schedule...

Image
My Summer release/design schedule... Firstly, this post should have been put out on the 23rd but I'm afraid, just the business of life got in the way and it just completely slipped my mind, so my apologies for that. The change in posting frequency may have disrupted the organisation of it in my mind for me but hopefully now I settle into a sound reliable fortnightly rhythm! Design wise it's been all about making sure the Summer months are used wisely to make sure we still have some regular releases through those warmer months, 1 each planned for Late June and Late July and then running into the release heavy Autumn/Winter period which means all tests need to go out and finish on time and everything needs to come together as planned... We'll see how well that goes!😅  So based on this scheduling drive, a lot has happened since my last proper post, and we currently have 2 tests happening and I have picked up my pretty periwinkle sparkle shawl and am halfway through...

Not the usual post this week... This is just a quick update rather than a post this week just t notify everyone that I will be posting on here fortnightly from now on, just to free up some time and give me some more flexibility... So as from today expect my blog posts to be every 2 weeks instead of each week, and still on a Friday, so the next one will be live on 23rd April 2021 ! Also a little announcement, it's 2 years this month since I published my first knitting pattern! So...I will be having a 50% off sale on every pattern available through  Bex Knitty Design on Ravelry & Bex Knitty Design on LoveCrafts.com until the end of April, to celebrate my 2 year Designer-versary! I am so happy to still be doing what I love - after those initial 3 patterns, which I nervously thought might be all I had in me - having built a lovely team of test knitters and a portfolio of patterns 💓My thanks to everyone for their interest and support, as it helps me feel justified t...

Just rolling with the stitches...

Just rolling with the stitches... It's been all about enjoying getting lost in a lovely big wrap full of squishy garter stitch and pretty lace this week past ! Last weeks post was unfortunately a few days delayed due to a slight technical error on my part I'm afraid, so my apologies for that. I had written the post in advance as I knew my hubby had a leave day on the Friday, which is when I usually post, and so I was intending to have it all written on the Thursday and set to schedule the release of it on the Friday, while I could be enjoying a long weekend with the family without reaching for my laptop...But, seems I messed up a little on that, and I realised on the Saturday that in fact it had not published successfully and it had been left to appear that I had just skipped posting. So please do check out last weeks post (which was then posted on the Saturday) if you had expected it on the Friday and then just assumed I skipped a week, as it is there and should have been th...
